All authors should make a clear note that: copying the text, tables or images/illustrations from any source [journal article, book, monographs, dissertations, internet/any electronic medium or any other published or unpublished material] and passing it as ones own is considered as plagiarism, whether or not the reference to the copied part is mentioned. Even after mentioning the source of material that is copied under ‘references’ does not absolve the concerned author from plagiarism. If only few lines of the text are to be reproduced from any source, the author and the source should be clearly mentioned in the text. Such line should be written in italics and given within quotes. If it is a complete paragraph then it should be slightly indented. To reproduce larger part of the text, permission from the copyright owner/s must be obtained and should be submitted to Managing Editor/Editorial board of Somaiya Medical Journal. To reproduce the tables and images/illustrations, the permission from the copyright owner/s must be obtained and copy of its permission letter should be submitted to this journal. The source should be clearly mentioned. If it is found that the submitted article is not conforming to the standard author guidelines/norms and appear to have done plagiarism, such author/s will be blacklisted from any further submission/s to this journal and their name/s will be displayed under ‘Author/s in Plagiarism’ section on this journal site.
